There is no better place in the world to learn to dive than the Great Barrier Reef! This 4 Day Learn To Dive course combines two days theory and pool practice at Quicksilver Dive’s 5 Star PADI training centre with the excitement of two Great Barrier Reef day trips to complete your training dives (4 mandatory) and the option of two guided fun dives as a certified diver! Open water training dives are conducted from a modern custom-designed dive catamaran at a selection of over 35 exclusive World Heritage dive sites at the renowned Agincourt ribbon reefs. Small class sizes ensure a personalised, safe, professional and most importantly fun, learning experience!

We completed the 3 Day course with eLearning, but the comments are still relevant. I'm not a confident swimmer and Adriana coached me through ensuring I was comfortable enough on the pool day prior to going on the ocean dives. The two ocean days were fantastic - we travelled using both the Silversonic and Quicksilver 5 and I love that the ocean days experienced were at a number of dive sites as well as on the Quicksilver Pontoon. The catering was more than sufficient and very delicious (and healthy!) and they were able to accommodate for my vegan dietary requirement. By the end of the course, thanks to Adriana, I was very comfortable scuba diving in the ocean and I'm excited to go again. I would recommend that everyone go to Quicksilver for their scuba certification!

Incredible past three days doing the Open Water Diver Course with a fantastic group of people. Our instructor, Adi, was knowledgeable with a wealth of experience, very patient while we were learning, highly organised and ensured we felt safe at every moment, and brought fun and humour to each day. Can’t wait to visit Port Douglas again and get out on the reef with Quicksilver.

A fantastic place to get certified - purpose built pool for confined dives and outer reef beauty for open water skills. Adi was a great teacher - patient and thorough. I didn’t just learn skills, I learnt confidence and to believe in myself! The crew on the boats were all excellent and super encouraging as we learnt and practiced. If you want to get OWD certified, Quicksilver makes it fun, accessible and safe!

My partner and I just completed the 4 day open water scuba diving course with Adriana and we could not have asked for a better experience! Adi was friendly and approachable, and very knowledgeable/experienced - being able to explain concepts to us in a way that was easy to understand. She was very patient with us and emphasised safety above everything, making sure that we didn’t pass a stage until we absolutely got it right. We felt very comfortable with her and very trusting in her abilities. The whole course was very professional and we can’t wait to start our scuba diving journey and get our next accreditations!

Our 10 year old daughter completed a Junior Open Water course with Adriana. It was the most amazing experience ever - we could not have asked for a better instructor! Adriana was caring, friendly and very professional, always reiterating how important safety is when diving. This was extremely important for us and put our mind to ease, especially with a very young child learning how to dive. The initial training in the purpose-built pool was a great start to the course. With Adriana by her side our daughter felt confident when entering the open water for the first time. We were all very happy when she passed her Junior Open Water assessment, and we went out to the Great Barrier Reef with Quicksilver/Silversonic for a few more fun dives. Our dive guides Simon and Hiromi were very knowledgeable, highly skilled, and super friendly. We enjoyed every interaction with the friendly staff from Quicksilver, from the initial booking with the very professional admin staff who went above and beyond to ensure all our needs were met, to the bubble-maker course our 8-year-old did with Heinz (who was also super nice, professional and highly skilled) to the Junior Open Water Course for our 10-year-old ending with fun dives on the Great Barrier Reef. Every single person was just lovely, accommodating and very helpful. The equipment is excellent, the food and drink selection on the boats is fantastic and the whole experience is just unforgettable! Thanks to the Quicksilver Crew and all the lovely staff!!!

We had an amazing time with Jess as our instructor! I experienced quite a lot of difficulties equalising my ears and she was very patient and supportive through the whole process. She knew the reef so well and was able to share many highlights, including Nemo! 🐠 Highly recommended.

I absolutely loved my learn to dive course which was conducted by the lovely Jess. It was an absolutely overwhelming and surreal experience to have two days of diving the Great Barrier Reef and Jess ran the program in a way that made us feel safe and in control. As someone who has done a lot of free diving previously, I was impressed at how much extra SCUBA added to the experience. I look forward to using my new qualification on my future holidays! Cannot recommend highly enough!

We completed the Quicksilver Dive 3 Day PADI Learn to Dive Course with Jess from Quicksilver and it was such an amazing experience! Going into it we were a bit nervous as we had never dived before however Jess was a great teacher and very supportive throughout. We felt very safe and saw some amazing marine wildlife including sharks, minke whales and turtles. We would highly recommend for anyone with no previous experience, thanks again Jess! Ben and Ange

We were part of a group of six certified divers with Gordon as our diver master/guide. The dives were well planed to make the most of of each site and dive by starting deep and moving up throughout the dive. Great conditions, great service and great dive sites

The whole trip was above expectations. Staff were professional and friendly and made the experience enjoyable. Particular mention to Jess who went above and beyond to make our dive course rewarding. She was an excellent dive instructor and would recommend the course to others. Great value for money too, particularly with the dive instructions at the reef. Thanks for a great week.

Additional Information

    • Confirmation will be received at time of booking
    • Not wheelchair accessible
    • Ability to swim - 200m (or 300m with mask, fins and snorkel) and tread water (float) for 10 minutes.
    • Course commences every Tuesday and on request
    • If a dive medical is required, it must be completed within 90 days of starting your dive course.
    • It is recommended that you not fly for 24 hours after diving. The final scheduled Open Water dive will be completed by 2:30pm.
    • Minimum age 10 years.
    • Some medical conditions such as asthma, heart conditions or diabetes may prevent you from diving. Prior to commencing your dive course you are required to complete the self-assessment Student Diver Medical Declaration. A positive response to any questions indicates there is a pre-existing condition which may affect your safety while diving and you will need to obtain a dive medical certificate that states you are medically fit to dive.
