Stop At: Low Isles QLD 4873, Australia

Sail from Port Douglas aboard a luxury catamaran to visit Low Isles in the quieter morning hours, before the majority of visitors arrive. After cruising from the mainland, arrive at Low Isles, where you can spend four and a half hours at Low Isles, a coral cay island where you can relax under palm trees on the white sands and snorkel off-beach in the sheltered lagoon’s undersea coral gardens.

Take a walk to Low Isles’ historic lighthouse, dating from 1878, or learn about the Great Barrier Reef’s magical underwater world of iridescent fish and fluorescent coral on a guided snorkel tour led by a marine biologist. There’s more fun eco-education aboard a glass-bottom boat tour, with stunning coral views and expert commentary.

After a seafood buffet lunch on board the catamaran, soak up the sun on the deck or return to the water for a final snorkel before returning to Port Douglas by 4pm.

Only a select group of operators are permitted to visit the coral cay Low Isles, the only Great Barrier Reef island a short sail from Port Douglas. This cruise combines luxury and eco credentials, for a premium reef experience.

Duration: 4 hours

We had such an enjoyable experience. My husband can't swim so we really wanted to find a tour to accommodate him. We were quite nervous about swimming in such deep water with a fairly large group, but as soon as we got on board we were set at ease. The staff were so kind, tentative, and knowledgeable. They made sure they knew our experiences with swimming and set us up accordingly. We were given pool noodles to swim with so if you're not a strong swimmer you'll be just fine. The area was so beautiful. The history of the island was fascinating, and the tour of the reed itself was unmatched. I highly recommend this tour.

Snorkelling at the Low Isles is a must do experience whilst visiting Port Douglas. Blake and his amazing crew from Sailaway made the day even more special. They provided an excellent service, were very knowledgeable in all aspects of the Reef environment and were happy to answer any questions; not to mention the delicious snacks and lunch they prepared. Would highly recommend this full day Reef experience.

The crew was super accommodating, me and my wife loved the day so much and wouldn’t have used anyone else! We seen so much when we jumped in the water and the crew also explained everything we seen perfectly and clearly! Thanks guys! Will be back 110%

We were picked up from our accommodation as advised and dropped at the wharf where the crew were preparing the boat for a 1pm departure . The crew were friendly and knowledgeable. The weather was perfect for sailing. We had lunch as we sailed off. Once at low isles we went in a glass bottom boat to the island and from the island we went snorkeling for between 1-1.5 hours. It was very safe and the glass bottom boat was around if you got tired and wanted to get out of the water. After swimming back to the catamaran we got changed and had some more snacks and a few drinks. We sailed back into the marina at sunset. A perfect day. Although I love kids it was perfect that it was adults only. I highly recommend Sailaway.

Awesome crew and ship. Weather out and back was rough, but the reef was amazing. Very professionally run and would highly recommend. Not run by backpackers like the rest of Port Douglas.

Awesome. As an educated solo traveller who has traveled the world, this half day tour was fantastic, my second time snorkeling on the reef and it was by far better than the outer reef. The staff were friendly, energetic, educated in all things reef and water safety. It was the highlight of my time in Port Douglas. Tour date was 2 May 2022

It would be hard to fault this trip: modern boat, good food, punctual, good equipment. The guided snorkelling was the highlight and good equipment was provided. The Low Isles are exquisitely beautiful. Our crew - Jake, Caitlin and Keira - were friendly, knowledgeable and perfect hosts. The day we went it was quite rough which I enjoyed but others might find a bit boisterous
